Installation

1. Install a new gasket to the axle housing.






2. Install the differential carrier assembly in the axle and install the ten nuts. Torque to 47 Nm (34 ft.lbs).






3. Connect the shock absorber to the spring seat and torque to 37 Nm (27 ft.lbs).






4. Align the matchmarks on both flanges.
5. Torque the four bolts and nuts to 88 Nm (65 ft.lbs).






6. Remove the pinion shaft pin from the differential.






7. Remove the pinion shaft and spacer.

Note: When the pinion shaft is removed, the pinion gear and thrust washer will come off also.

8. Install the rear axle shafts.
9. Install a new gasket and the rear differential cover.






10. Check the differential oil level.

^ Oil Type: API GL-5 hypoid gear oil
^ Viscosity: Above -18°C (0°F) SAE 90
Below -18°C (0°F) SAE 80W-90 or 80W
^ Capacity: 2.5 liters (2.6 US qts.)

11. Install the filler plug.
