Insufficient or No Cooling


The following information has been revised by a Technical Service Bulletin.
On 1989 Corolla models, if insufficient A/C cooling performance and bubbles are found at sight glass, perform the following procedure.
1. Check high and low side pressure.
2. If pressures are low, check the connection between the liquid tube flange and the receiver drier for leaks.
3. If leaks are found, check the top side for a ``G1, G2, G3, G4 or G5'' marking.
4. If these markings are found, replace the liquid tube with part No. 88726-12340.
5. Magnetic clutch does not engage:
a. Blown fuse or circuit breaker.
b. Defective magnetic clutch.
c. Defective A/C switch.
d. Faulty thermistor.
e. Faulty control amplifier.
f. Faulty wiring connections.
g. System depleted of refrigerant.
h. Faulty relay.
i. Defective pressure switch.
j. Faulty revolution detecting sensor.
6. Compressor does not rotate properly:
a. Loose or worn drive belt.
b. Defective compressor.
7. Faulty expansion valve.
8. Leaking system.
9. Blown fusible plug or clogged screen.
10. Blower does not operate properly:
a. Blown fuse.
b. Defective blower control switch.
c. Defective circuit breaker.
d. Defective main relay.
e. Defective blower motor.
f. Defective wiring connections.
