Fuel Filter: Description and Operation
The gasoline used as fuel contains a small proportion of dirt and moisture. If allowed to reach the narrow passages of the carburetor, these contaminants would soon clog the carburetor and cause driveability problems and stalling. The
fuel filter, located in the engine compartment,
filters these contaminants and moisture from the fuel supply. The filter element slows the rate of the fuel flow causing the heavier particles of dirt to settle out into the filter cartridge while the lighter particles are filtered by the paper filter element. The fuel filter is replaced as a unit, as visual inspection dictates.
