Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

This sensor, located on the backside of the speedometer cluster, is used to monitor actual vehicle speed. Vehicle speed information is used by the ECU for feedback carburetor control, air suction (on equipped vehicles), EVAP system, cruise control and electronic control of automatic transmissions. The VSS inputs the ECU through terminal SPD.
