Ignition Timing: Adjustments

Fig. 35 Check Engine Connector:

1. Using a service wire connect the engine check connector.
2. Using a timing light, check the ignition timing and adjust if necessary.

3. Loosen the mounting bolts on the distributor.
4. Adjust the timing by turning the distributer.

Ignition Timing: 12° BTDC @ idle

5. Tighten the mounting bolt, and recheck the ignition timing.
6. Remove the service check wire, and install the connector cap.
7. Check idle advance timing with the service check wire disconnected.
