1. Visually check hoses and tubes for cracks, kinks, damage or loose connections.
2. With the engine cold, below 10°C (50°F), disconnect the air bypass hose from the Air Switching Valve (ASV). This is the hose between the ASV and the silencer.
3. Start the engine and check that air is discharged from the ASV. Fig. 26

4. Warm the engine to between 59 - 95° F. With the engine at idle, air should NOT be discharged from the ASV. Fig. 27
5. With the engine speed held at 3000 rpm, check that air is discharged from the ASV. Fig. 28
6. If any problems are found, test each system component.
7. Reconnect the air bypass hose to the ASV.
