Component Test
1. Disconnect wire connector, unscrew and remove EGR gas temperature sensor from engine.
2. Preheat a pan of motor oil to 112°F and place sensor in pan to the threads.
3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
The resistance should be 69.4-88.5 K Ohms.
4. Increase the heat to raise the oil temperature to 212°F and measure resistance again.
The resistance should be between 11.9-14.4 K Ohms.
5. With caution, raise oil temperature to 302°F and measure resistance.
Resistance should be between 2.8-3.6 K Ohms.
6. If the measurements are not as specified, replace EGR gas temperature sensor.
7. Clean oil from sensor threads and reinstall sensor.
8. Reconnect sensor wire connector.
