Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove transmission oil level gauge.
3. Remove throttle cable attaching clamp, then disconnect cable.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Remove filler tube.
6. On 4WD models, remove front propeller shaft.
7. On all models, remove shift control cable, then bracket.
8. On 2WD models, remove starter connector attaching nut, disconnect electrical connectors, remove starter attaching nuts and bolts, then remove.
9. On 4WD models, disconnect starter electrical connector, remove starter attaching nuts and bolts, remove starter and front propeller shaft center bracket assembly.
10. On all models, remove stiffener plates.
11. Remove torque convertor cover, then turn crankshaft to remove torque convertor attaching bolts.
12. Remove oil cooler tubes, then remove exhaust pipe bracket.
13. On 2WD models, remove propeller shaft.
14. On 4WD models, remove rear propeller shaft.
15. On all models, using suitable transmission jack stands, raise transmission, then remove rear mount.
16. Remove transmission attaching bolts, then remove.
17. Reverse procedure to install.
