Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

1. Obtain audio anti-theft code, if equipped, as outlined in Technician Safety Information. On models with air bag system, disarm airbag system as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove steering wheel, if necessary, steering column garnish, if equipped, upper and lower covers, Fig. 12.

4. Disconnect electrical connectors from ignition switch.
5. Turn ignition key to ACC position
6. Push down the stop key with a thin rod, pull out the ignition key cylinder.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Make sure that the ignition key is at the ACC position. Reset audio coded anti-theft and air bag system, if equipped, as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
