Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect mass air flow meter resistance.





- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals THA and E2.





- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.
2. Inspect mass air flow meter operation.
- Connect the mass air flow meter connector and negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.





- Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal VG. and negative (-) tester probe to terminal E3.
- Blow air into the mass air flow meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
