Impact Sensor: Description and Operation

The front airbag sensors are located on the inside of each front fender. The sensor unit is a mechanical type. When the sensor detects deceleration force above a predetermined limit, in a collision, the contacts in the sensor make contact, sending a signal to the center airbag assembly. The sensor cannot be disassembled. The front sensor is equipped with an electrical connection check mechanism, ensure mechanism is locked when connecting connector. If connector is not locked, system malfunction code will be generated.
