TACOMA 4X4 STRUT SPRING COMPRESSOR

For the last several years, strut spring compressor (P/N 09727-30020A-01) has been an essential SST. This universal strut spring compressor works on all Toyota strut assemblies with the exception of the '95 Tacoma 4X4 (models RZN181, RZN171, VZN160, and VZN1 70). Due to the high spring rate of the modified strut spring used on the '95 Tacoma 4X4, a new spring compressor (P/N 09727-30030) has been made available through OTC. This new SST looks very similar to the original universal spring compressor, however it is designed to handle the higher spring rate.

WARNING:
Do not attempt to use the old spring compressor, P/N O9727-3OO20A-01 on the Tacoma 4X4. Risk of tool damage and/or bodily injury exists.

However, effective 03/15/95, the 09727-30020A-01 strut spring compressor has been downgraded from essential, to available status. This was done because several universal strut spring compressors have become readily available in the marketplace over the past year.




Toyota has evaluated several of these universal spring compressors available from different tool manufacturers. Our evaluation has determined that the Branick model # BRNM-ST580A, a wall mounted universal strut spring compressor, works particularly well on all Toyota vehicles including Tacoma 4X4. Subsequently, we have made this tool available through the Toyota Approved Dealer Equipment Program.
