Removal and Installation

Front Differential Assembly:





REMOVAL
1. Remove under cover and drain differential oil.
2. Remove drive shafts.
3. Disconnect front propeller shaft.





a. Place matchmarks on the flanges.
b. Remove the 4 nuts, washers and bolts, then disconnect the propeller shaft.

Torque to 74 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)

4. Remove tube from differential.

a. W/ A.D.D.:
Disconnect the vacuum hoses, breather hose, and A. D.D. switch connector.

W/O A.D.D.:
Disconnect the breather hose.

b. W/ A D D:
Remove the 2 bolts and tube from the differential.

Torque to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)

W/O A.D.D.:
Remove the bolt and tube from the differential.

Torque to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)





5. Remove front differential assembly.
a. Support the front differential with a jack.
b. Remove the rear mounting nut.

Torque to 87 Nm (64 ft. lbs.)

c. Remove the front mounting bolts.

Torque to 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.)

d. Lower the jack and remove the front differential assembly

6. Remove differential mounting cushions.
a. Remove the rear mounting cushion.

Torque to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.)

b. Remove the front mounting cushions.

Torque to 157 Nm (116 ft. lbs.)

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

HINT: after installation, fill the differential with differential oil.
