Drive Belt Tension check






1. Using either a Nippondenso BTG-20 (9550-00020) or a Borroughs No.BT-33-73F belt tension gauge, check the drive belt tension.

2. The belt tensions are as follows.
a. The tension for a new belt [1] is 135-180 lbs.
b. The tension for a used belt [2] is 85-120 lbs.





3. After installing the belt, check that it fits properly in the ribbed grooves.

[1] "New belt" refers to a belt which has been less than five minutes on a running engine.
[1] "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for five minutes or more.
