Removal and Installation

Front Differential Carrier (1 Of 2):





REMOVAL
1. Remove under cover and drain the differential oil.

NOTE: After draining the differential oil, tighten the plug to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.).

2. Remove the drive shafts.
3. Remove the front propeller shaft.
4. Remove the tube from differential by performing the following.
a. If the vehicle came w/o Automatic Differential Disengagement (ADD), disconnect the breather hose. If the vehicle came with A.D.D., disconnect the vacuum hoses, breather hose, A.D.D. switch connector.
b. Remove the one (w/o A.D.D.) or the two (w/ A.D.D.) bolts and tube from the differential.

NOTE: When inserting the bolts, tighten them to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).

5. Remove the front differential assembly, doing the following.
a. Support the front differential with a jack.
b. Remove the rear mounting nut.

NOTE: When installing the rear mounting nut, tighten it to 87 Nm (64 ft. lbs.).

c. Remove the two front mounting bolts.

NOTE: when installing the front mounting nut, tighten them to 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.).

d. Lower the jack and remove the front differential assembly.

6. Remove the differential mounting cushions by performing the following.
a. Remove the rear mounting cushion.

NOTE: when installing the cushion, tighten the bolts to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).





b. Remove the two front mounting cushions.

NOTE: When installing the front cushions, tighten the bolts to 157 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- fill the differential with differential oil
