Wheels and Tires: Testing and Inspection






1. Inspect the tire by performing these procedures.
a. Check the tires for wear and for the proper inflation pressure. The cold tire inflation pressures are as follows.

Tire Size (Front,Rear): P225/75 R15
Pressure (Front,Rear): 200 kPa (29 psi)

Tire Size (Front,Rear): P265/70 R16
Pressure (Front,Rear): 220 kPa (32 psi)

b. Check the tire runout, it should be 3.0 mm (0.118 inch) or less.





2. Rotate the tire taking care to see the illustration for where to rotate each tire when you include the spare tire in rotation.





3. Inspect the wheel balance, performing these procedures.
a. Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.
b. If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance,the unbalance after adjustment should be 14.0 g (0.031 lbs.) or less.

4. Check the front suspension for looseness.
5. Check the steering linkage for looseness.
6. Check the ball joint for looseness.
7. Check to see if the shock absorber works properly by doing the following.

- Check for oil leak.
- Check the mounting bushings for wear.
- Bounce front and rear of the vehicle.
