Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Remove RH engine service hole cover.
(See step 1 in valve clearance inspection and adjustment in Engine Mechanical)
3. Remove engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
- Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor.
- Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gasket.
4. Inspect engine coolant temperature sensor.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance: Refer to the graph
- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
5. Reinstall engine coolant temperature sensor.
- Install a new gasket to the engine coolant temperature sensor.
- Install the engine coolant temperature sensor.
Torque: 25 N.m (17.5 ft.lb.)
- Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
6. Reinstall RH engine service hole cover.
7. Refill with engine coolant.
