Wheel Hub: Testing and Inspection

Front Axle - 2 WD:

FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING INSPECTION AND REPAIR
1. Inspect the bearing, cleaning the bearings and the outer races and inspect them for wear or damage.
2. Replace the bearing outer race, as follows:





a. Using a brass bar and hammer, remove the bearing outer race.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the ABS speed sensor rotor.





b. Using SSTs 09950 - 60020 (09951 - 00710), 09950-70010 (09951 -07150) or equivalents for the inside race, and SSTs 09950 - 60010 (09951 - 00480), 09950 - 70010 (09951 - 07150) or equivalents for the outside race, and a press, carefully install a new bearing outer race.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the ABS speed sensor rotor.
