Upper Suspension Arm

Front Suspension - 2 WD:





REMOVAL
1. Remove front wheel.

Torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).

2. Remove brake caliper.
3. With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), disconnect ABS speed sensor wire from upper suspension arm.

Torque:
ABS speed sensor: 8.0 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
Wire harness: 5.0 Nm (44 inch lbs.).

4. Remove upper ball joint from upper suspension arm, as follows:
a. Support the lower suspension arm with a jack.





b. Remove the four nuts and bolts, and disconnect the upper suspension arm.

Torque: 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).

5. Remove upper suspension arm, as follows:





a. Remove the two bolts and camber adjusting shims.

Torque: 96 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).

b. Remove the upper suspension arm.

REMOVAL NOTICE: Do not loose the camber adjusting shims. Record the position and the thickness of camber adjusting shims so that these can be reinstalled to their original location.

INSTALLATION NOTICE: Install an equal number and thickness of shims in their original position.

BUSHING REPLACEMENT
1. Remove bushing, as follows:
a. Remove the two bolts and retainers.





b. Using the Special Service Tool (SST) 09710 - 30020 (09710 - 03030, 09710 - 03040) or equivalents, remove the two bushings.

2. Install bushing, as follows:





a. Using the SST 09710 - 30020 (09710 - 03050, 09710 - 03060) or equivalents, install two new bushings.
b. Install the washer and finger tighten the bolt.

Torque: 126 Nm (93 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolts.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: After installation, check the front wheel alignment.
