Disassembly and Assembly


Front Suspension / Front Axle Hub:





DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the grease cap or the (inside) oil seal by performing the following.
a. Clamp the axle hub in a soft jaw vise.

NOTE: Close the vise until it holds the hub bolts, do not tighten it further.

b. Foe the two wheel drive, using a screwdriver, remove the grease cap.
c. For a four wheel drive, using a screwdriver, remove the (inside) oil seal.

2. Remove the axle hub from the steering knuckle by performing the following.
a. Remove the four bolts and shift the brake dust cover towards the hub side (outside).





b. Using the 09710-30021 (09710-03051), 09950-40010 (09951-04020, 09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04030, 09957 - 04010, 09958-04010) Special Service Tool (SST), remove the axle hub from the steering knuckle.
c. Remove the bearing spacer and the ABS speed sensor rotor/ spacer.

3. Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal (outside) from the steering knuckle.
4. Remove the bearing from the steering knuckle by doing the following.
a. Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring.





b. Using the 09950-60020 (09951-00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07150) SST and a press, remove the bearing from the steering knuckle.

ASSEMBLY
1. Install the new bearing, performing these procedures.





a. Using the 09527 - 17011, 09950-60020 (09951 - 00910) Special Service Tool (SST) and a press, install a new bearing to the steering knuckle.
b. Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring.

2. Install a new (outside) oil seal by doing these steps.





a. Using the 09223-15030, 09527-17011 SST and a plastic hammer, install a new (outside) oil seal .
b. Coat MP grease to the oil seal lip.

3. Install the axle hub to the steering knuckle, by performing these steps.
a. Install the brake dust cover to the steering knuckle with the four bolts, tightening the bolts to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).





b. Using the 09649-17010 SST and a press, install the axle hub to the steering knuckle.

4. Install the ABS speed sensor rotor/spacer.

NOTE: Do not scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.





5. Using the 09950-60010 (09951-00650), 09950-70010 (09951-07150) SST and a press, install the bearing spacer.
6. If it is a two wheel drive vehicle, install the grease cap.
7. If it is a four wheel drive vehicle, install a new (inside) oil seal by doing the following.





a. Using the 09527-17011 SST and a plastic hammer, install a new (inside) oil seal .

NOTE: Strike the SST on its circumference evenly.

b. Coat MP grease to the oil seal lip.
