Removal and Installation
COMPRESSOR REMOVAL
Compressor:
1. RUN ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED WITH A/C ON FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES
2. STOP ENGINE
3. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY
4. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
5. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE AND SUCTION HOSE FROM COMPRESSOR
NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep the moisture and dirt out of the system.
6. REMOVE DRIVE BELT
Drive Belt Tension/Replacement
7. 5VZ-FE Engine Models:
REMOVE PS PUMP SET BOLT AND NUT
8. REMOVE COMPRESSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and the compressor.
COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL COMPRESSOR
a. Install the compressor with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)
b. Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL PS PUMP SET BOLT AND NUT
3. INSTALL AND CHECK DRIVE BELT
Drive Belt Tension
4. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
5. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE AND SUCTION HOSE TO COMPRESSOR
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
NOTE: Hoses should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.
HINT: Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the both hoses.
6. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY
7. EVACUATE AIR FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
8. CHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT AND INSPECT FOR LEAKAGE OF REFRIGERANT
Specified amount: 650 ± 50 9 (22.92 ± 1.76 oz.)
Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage of refrigerant.
Leakage of Refrigerant
If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.
