Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE
a. Loosen the 2 nuts and disconnect the throttle cable.
b. Disconnect the throttle cable from cable clamps in the engine compartment.
2. REMOVE ATF LEVEL GAUGE
3. REMOVE OIL FILLER PIPE
Remove the bolt and oil filler pipe with O-ring.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
HINT:
At the time of installation, please refer to the following item.
Replace the used O-ring with a new one.
4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
5. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT
6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE
7. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL ROD FROM SHIFT LEVER
Torque: 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.)
8. DISCONNECT FOLLOWING CONNECTOR FROM TRANSMISSION
- No.1 vehicle speed sensor connector (3RZ-FE only)
- No.2 vehicle speed sensor connector
- Solenoid wire connector
- ATF temperature sensor connector
- Park/neutral position switch connector
9. SEPARATE WIRE HARNESS FROM TRANSMISSION
INSTALLATION
1. CHECK TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH INSTALLATION
Using calipers and a straight edge, measure the distance from the installed surface of the transmission housing to the installed surface of the torque converter clutch.
Correct distance:
3RZ-FE: More than 31.75 mm (1.2500 inch)
5VZ-FE: More than 17.95 mm (0.7067 inch)
2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
HINT:
^ After installation, adjust the shift lever position and throttle cable.
^ Fill and check fluid level.
