Introduction

To reduce brake groan and squeak noises on 1998 Siennas, the pad and rotor materials have been changed. The rigidity of the pad material has been improved by increasing the resin content and the rotor has been improved by increasing the carbon content.





The new pad is easily identified by a diagonal groove in the pad friction material.

^ 1998 Siennas starting with the following VINs: 4T3ZF13*WU080714 (Pads)
4T3ZF13*WU074879 (Rotors).

Visually inspect Shims for heat discoloration. If discolored, then replace.

Repair Procedures

^ If the customer encounters a brake groan or squeak noise, replace the front brake pads and rotors.

^ Install pads with the larger chamfer facing upward.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is In effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
