Sliding Door Window Glass: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. REMOVE CUP HOLDER
Using a screwdriver, remove the cup holder as shown in the illustration.

2. REMOVE DOOR TRIM




a. Remove the screw.
b. Insert a screwdriver between the door and door trim to pry the trim out.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the door and door trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

c. Pull the trim to remove it.




3. REMOVE UPPER N0.1 TRIM COVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the upper No.1 trim cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




4. REMOVE UPPER N0.2 TRIM COVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the upper No.2 trim cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

5. REMOVE WINDOW GARNISH




a. Using a screwdriver, remove the trim board cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the 3 screws and window garnish.

6. REMOVE SLIDE DOOR GLASS




a. Push a piano wire through from the interior.
b. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar object.

HINT: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior.




c. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.

HINT: Cut the adhesive areas as shown in the illustration, leaving the adhesive where the clips are.




d. Push the piano wire through as shown in the illustration, cut off the adhered part to the clips.
e. Remove the glass.

NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.

INSTALLATION

1. CLEAN AND SHAPE CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY




a. Using a knife, cut away any rough areas on the body.

HINT: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible.

b. Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated in cleaner.

HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body.

2. CLEAN REMOVED GLASS




a. Remove the damaged stoppers and dams.
b. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive sticking to the glass.
c. Clean the glass with cleaner.

NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the glass.
- Do not touch the glass face after cleaning it.




3. INSTALL NEW N0.2 SIDE WINDOW CLIPS
Attach new clips to the glass with the ceramic notches on the glass aligned with the stoppers as shown in the illustration.




4. INSTALL NEW DAM
Install new dam with double-stick tape as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.

A: 3.0 mm (0.12 in.)




5. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF DOOR PANEL WITH PRIMER "M"
Using a brush, coat the contact surface on the door panel with primer M.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not coat primer M to the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened primer M for later use.

6. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS WITH PRIMER "G"




a. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with primer G.
b. Before the primer dries, wipe it off with a clean shop rag.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not keep any of the opened primer G for later use.

A: 15.0 mm (0.59 in.)
B: 7.0 mm (0.67 in.)
C: 34.5 mm (1.36 in.)
D: 18.5 mm (0.73 in.)

7. APPLY ADHESIVE




a. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle. Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent






HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table.

b. Load the cartridge into the sealer gun.
c. Coat the glass with adhesive, as shown.
A: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
B: 8.0 mm (0.315 in.)
C: 15.0 mm (0.59 in.)
D: 17.0 mm (0.67 in.)
E: 34.5 mm (1.36 in.)
F: 18.5 mm (0.73 in.)

8. INSTALL GLASS
a. Install the glass to the door.
b. Hold the glass in place securely with a protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.






NOTE: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in the table.

9. INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR
a. Conduct a leak test after the hardening time has elapsed.
b. Seal any leak with sealant.
Part No. 08833-00030 or equivalent

10. INSTALL WINDOW GARNISH




a. Install the window garnish with the 3 screws.
b. Install the trim board cover to the slide door panel.




11. INSTALL UPPER N0.2 TRIM COVER
Install the upper No.2 trim cover to the slide door panel.




12. INSTALL UPPER N0.1 TRIM COVER
Install the upper No.1 trim cover to the slide door panel.

13. INSTALL DOOR TRIM




a. Install the door trim to the slide door panel.
b. Install the screw.

14. INSTALL CUP HOLDER
Install the cup holder to the slide door panel.
