DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE DRAIN PLUG AND GASKET, AND DRAIN ATF
2. REMOVE 2 WIRE HARNESS BRACKETS
3. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER
Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever.
4. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
a. Using a screwdriver, unstake the lock washer.
b. Remove the nut, lock washer and grommet.
c. Remove the bolt and park/neutral position switch.
5. REMOVE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Remove the ATF temperature sensor.
b. Remove the O-ring from the sensor.
6. REMOVE ELBOW
a. Remove the 2 elbows.
b. Remove the 2 O-rings from each elbow.
7. REMOVE BREATHER HOSE
Disconnect the breather hose.
8. REMOVE DYNAMIC CAMPER
9. REMOVE TRANSFER FROM TRANSMISSION
a. Remove the transfer adaptor rear mounting bolts.
b. Pull the transfer straight up and remove it from the transmission
10. REMOVE NO. 2 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR
a. Remove the bolt and vehicle speed sensor.
b. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle speed sensor.
11. REMOVE O/D DIRECT CLUTCH SPEED SENSOR
a. Remove the bolt and O/D direct clutch speed sensor.
b. Remove the O-ring from it.
12. REMOVE TRANSFER CASE
Remove the 7 bolts and case.
13. REMOVE NO. 2 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ROTOR AND KEY
a. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.
b. Remove the sensor rotor and key.
14. REMOVE TRANSMISSION HOUSING
Remove the 6 bolts and transmission housing.
15. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CASE ON OVERHAUL ATTACHMENT
Install the transmission case on the overhaul attachment.
16. REMOVE OIL PAN
NOTICE: Do not turn the transmission over as this will contaminate the valve body with any foreign matter at the bottom on the pan.
a. Remove the 19 bolts.
b. Install the blade of SST between the transmission case and oil pan, cut off applied sealer.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the oil pan flange.
c. Remove the oil pan by lifting the transmission case.
17. REMOVE OIL STRAINER AND GASKET
Remove the 4 bolts, oil strainer and 5 gaskets.
18. REMOVE SOLENOID WIRING
a. Disconnect the 4 connectors from the shift solenoid valves.
b. Remove the bolt and stopper plate from the case.
c. Pull out the solenoid wiring from the transmission case.
d. Remove the O-ring from the solenoid wiring.
19. REMOVE VALVE BODY
Remove the 17 bolts and valve body.
20. REMOVE CHECK BALL BODY
Remove the check ball body and spring.
21. REMOVE ACCUMULATOR PISTON AND SPRING
a. Applying compressed air (392 kPa, 4.0 kgf/cm2, 57 psi) to the oil hole, remove the B2 and C2 accumulator pistons and 3 springs.
NOTICE:
- Blowing off the air may cause the piston's jump-out. When removing the piston, hold it with your hand using a waste cloth.
- Take care not to splash ATF when air-blowing.
b. Remove the O-ring from each piston.
c. Applying compressed air (392 kPa, 4.0 kgf/cm2, 57 psi) to the oil hole, remove the Be accumulator piston and spring.
NOTICE:
- Blowing off the air may cause the piston's jump-out. When removing the piston, hold it with your hand using a waste cloth.
- Take care not to splash ATF when air-blowing.
d. Remove the 2 O-rings from the piston.
e. Applying compressed air (392 kPa, 4.0 kgf/cm2, 57 psi) to the oil hole, remove the C0 accumulator piston and 2 springs.
NOTICE:
- Blowing off the air may cause the piston's jump-out. When removing the piston, hold it with your hand using a waste cloth.
- Take care not to splash ATF when air-blowing.
f. Remove the O-ring from the piston.
22. REMOVE TRANSMISSION PLUG
a. Remove the bolt and pull out the plug.
b. Remove the O-ring.
23. REMOVE PARKING LOCK ROD AND PAWL
a. Remove the 3 bolts and parking lock pawl bracket.
b. Disconnect the parking lock rod from the manual valve lever.
c. Remove the E-ring from the shaft.
d. Pull the parking lock pawl shaft out from the front side, then remove the pawl and spring.
24. REMOVE MANUAL VALVE LEVER SHAFT
a. Using a hammer and screwdriver, cut off the spacer and remove it from the shaft.
b. Using a pin punch, drive out the pin.
HINT: Slowly drive out the pin so it does not fall into the transmission case.
c. Pull out the manual valve lever shaft through the case and remove the manual valve lever.
d. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 oil seals.
25. REMOVE OIL PUMP
a. Stand up the transmission.
b. Remove the 7 bolts holding the oil pump to the transmission case.
c. Using SST, remove the oil pump.

d. Remove the race from the oil pump.
e. Remove the O-ring from the oil pump.
