Introduction

In some cases where the 2001 - 2002 model year Sienna power sliding doors may not properly operate and cannot be re-initialized, the sliding door control junction (door side) may be damaged. Replacing the sliding door control junction and re-initializing the sliding door system will remedy the condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Refer to the 2001 or 2002 Sienna Repair Manual, pages BO-19 and BO-21, for door control junction removal information.





2. Remove the door control junction, position the new door control junction and install the sliding door control junction bolts finger tight so that the junction may be moved by tapping lightly with a mallet.

3. Fold a paper towel 4 times and insert over the door control junction.

4. Shut the sliding door with the paper towel between both control junction surfaces. This will realign the sliding door control junction mating surfaces so that they do not contact each other.





5. Carefully tighten the door control junction bolts, while ensuring that the junction does not move.

6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to confirm proper alignment.

7. Connect the new junction block harness to system and install all removed components.

8. Re-initialize the power sliding door system using the procedures recommended in these Technical Service Bulletins:

^ For single power sliding door: TSB BO010-01

^ For dual power sliding doors: TSB BO035-00
(Dual Power Sliding Door Re-Initializing, published December 15, 2000)

NOTE:
