Introduction
Some 2001 model year Sienna vehicles with the Vehicle Entertainment System (VES) may have a poor contact between the Main Harness and the Flat Panel Display connector. The immediate cause is likely to be interference from the cable ties on either side of the Flat Panel Display's center connector. Interference with engagement of the 16-pin wire harness connector may result in poor picture quality or inconsistent function.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Cable Tie Identification
Identify the location of the cable ties on the Flat Panel Display's center connector.
A. If they are tied to the locking tab of the connector, as shown in Figure 1, an exchange Flat Panel Display should be ordered.
B. If the wire ties are positioned away from the connector bracket, as shown in Figure 2, proceed to step 2.
2. Harness Reconnection
A. Before re-assembling the harness to the Flat Panel Display, make sure that all the pins on the connector are straight and not damaged. If the pins are damaged and cannot be straightened, order an exchange Flat Panel Display.
B. Verify that the 16-pin wire harness connector is fully snapped onto the Flat Panel Display connector.
3. System Test
Confirm that the system functions properly using both the video cassette player and the remote control.
