Front Seat

OVERHAUL

HINT:
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal. But, the installation is indicated only when it has a point.
- In the RH side, work in the same procedure as in the LH side.

1. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
a. Separate the battery negative (-) terminal.

CAUTION:
- Work must be started 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the "LOCK" position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
- (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source so that if work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may be deployed.)

2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 seat track covers.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the 4 bolts.
c. Disconnect the connectors.
d. Remove the front seat.

NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the body.
- When removed the front seat assembly that the front most position.

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY
4. REMOVE CUP HOLDER ASSY NO.1 LH
a. Remove the 6 screws and 2 cup holders.




5. REMOVE POWER ADJUSTER SHIELD FRONT LH(POWER SEAT)
a. Remove the 2 power seat switch knobs.
b. Remove the 6 screws.
c. Remove the front seat cushion cover inner LH, front seat cushion shield LH and power adjuster shield front LH by the assembly.
d. Remove the 3 screws, hook and power adjuster shield front LH.

6. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH(POWER SEAT)
a. Remove the 2 screws and front power seat switch (lumbar support switch).

7. REMOVE VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB LH(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the clip and vertical seat adjuster knob LH.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

8. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the reclining adjuster release handle LH.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Remove the 3 screws.
b. Remove the hook and front seat cushion shield LH.




10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Remove the 3 screws.
b. remove the hook and front seat cushion shield inner LH.

11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SHIELD SET BRACKET NO.1
a. Remove the 3 bolts and front seat shield set bracket No.1.

12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
a. Remove the bolts.
b. Remove the clamps and the front seat inner belt assembly LH.

13. REMOVE CUSHION ASSY, FR SEAT, LH
a. Remove the 4 bolts and the separate type front seat cushion assembly.

14. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSY
a. Disengage the seat cushion cover hook.
b. Remove the hog rings and the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly.

15. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Remove the hog rings and separate type front seat cushion cover.
b. Remove the seat wires from the separate type front seat cushion cover.

16. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH
a. Cut the tack pins which are fastened to the seat heater, and then remove the seat heater




17. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK BOARD SUB-ASSY LH
a. Remove the seat back board as shown in the illustration.




18. REMOVE SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH
a.Using a screwdriver, remove the cap.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

19. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK ASSY
a. Remove the hog rings and disengage the seat back cover hook.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and separate type front seat back assembly.
c. Disconnect the connectors (without manual seat and side airbag).

20. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK SPRING ASSY
a. Remove the hog rings.
b. Disengage the seat cover hook, and remove the retainer from the seat back flame.
c. Remove the 2 headrest supports.
d. Remove the separate type front seat back spring assembly.

21. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER
a. Remove the hog rings and separate type front seat back cover.
b. Remove the seat wires from the separate type front seat back cover.

22. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSY LH
a. Cut the tack pins which are fastened to the seat heater, and then remove the seat heater.

23. REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY LH(POWER SEAT)
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the lumber support assembly from the seat back spring assembly.

24. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
a. Remove the screws (power seat: 2 screws, manual seat: 1 screw) and reclining adjuster inside cover LH.

25. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO.1 LH
a. Remove the screws (power seat 2 screws, manual seat 1 screw) and front seat cushion shield inner No.1 LH.

26. REMOVE LUMBER FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH (POWER SEAT)
a. Remove the 3 screws and power seat front LH switch assembly.




27. REMOVE FRONT SEAT WIRE LH (POWER SEAT)

28. REMOVE SEAT TRACK LH HANDLE

SUB-ASSY (MANUAL SEAT)
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the seat track LH handle.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

29. REMOVE RECLINING CONNECTING ROD SUB-ASSY(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Remove the 4 nuts.
b. Remove the reclining connecting rod and reclining connecting pipe.
c. Separate the reclining connecting rod and reclining connecting pipe.

30. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER SUB-ASSY OUTER LH(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the E-ring from the outer side on the inner track.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

31. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER SUB-ASSY LH(POWER SEAT)

32. INSTALL RECLINING CONNECTING ROD SUB-ASSY(MANUAL SEAT)
a. Adjust the reclining lock positions of the seat adjusters.
b. Slide the seat adjusters to the most front position.
c. Place the adjusters on a spacers to adjust the seat rails in parallel.
d. Combine the reclining connecting rod and reclining connecting pipe.
e. Install the reclining connecting rod and reclining connecting pipe with the 4 nuts.

HINT: When installing the connecting pipe while raising up the adjusters, the lock positions adjusted lock position step slip off then lock error will occur.

Torque: 39.2 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)

33. INSTALL LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY LH(POWER SEAT)




34. INSTALL FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSY LH
a. Using a tacker, install the front seat back heater to the front seat back cover with tack pins.

NOTE:
- Do not substitute other metal parts for tack pins.
- In suffice distance between the heater and cover may result in damage to the heater.

HINT:
- Attach tack pins on the seam side so that the wire can be threaded through the hole from the fold side.
- Sewing thread can be substituted for tack pins.
- However, allow a distance of 6-7 mm (0.24-0.28 in.) between both the sewed parts of the heater and cover.




35. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER
a. Install the seat wires to the front seat back cover.

HINT: Pass the wire over the seat heater as shown in the illustration.

b. Install the separate type front seat back cover with pad to the seat back spring with new hog rings.




c. Engage the seat cover hook and retainer, and then install the 2 bolts to the seat back spring (w/ side airbag).




d. Install the seat back cover part of side with new hog rings (w I side airbag).

HINT: When installing hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as little as possible.

36. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK ASSY
a. Mount the front seat back assembly on the seat adjuster assembly.
b. Connect the connectors.
c. Install the 4 bolts.

Torque: 37.0 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

d. Engage the wire harness clamps.
e. Install new hog rings.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the wire harness.

HINT: When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as little as possible.

37. CHECK SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER LOCKS(MANUAL SEAT)
a. When reclining the seat, inspect that the outer and inner recliners are released at the same time.

HINT: When the reclining lock position slips off, disassemble the seat to adjust the position.

38. INSTALL SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH
a. Install the seat armrest assembly LH with the bolt.

Torque: 37.0 N.m (378 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)




39. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH
a. Using a tacker, install the front seat cushion heater to the front seat cushion cover with tack pins.

NOTE:
- Do not substitute other metal parts for tack pins.
- In suffice distance between the heater and cover may result in damage to the heater.

HINT:
- Attach tack pins on the seam side so that the wire can be threaded through the hole from the folding side.
- Sewing thread can be substituted for tack pins however, allow a distance of 6-7 mm (0.24-0.28 in.) between both sewed parts of the heater and cover.




40. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Install the seat wires to the front seat cushion cover.

HINT: Pass the wire over the seat heater as shown in the illustration (w/ seat heater).

b. Install the separate type front seat cushion cover with pad to the seat cushion spring with new hog rings.

HINT: When installing hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as little as possible.
41. INSTALL CUSHION ASSY, FR SEAT, LH

a. Mount the front seat cushion assembly on the seat adjuster assembly.
b. Install the 4 bolts.

Torque: 18.0 N.m (183 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the connectors.

42. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
a. Install the front seat inner belt assembly LH with the bolt.

Torque: 42.0 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

43. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Mount the front seat to the vehicle.
b. Connect the connectors.
c. Slide the front seat to the most rear position.
d. Tighten the bolts on the front side temporarily, but from the bolts on the inner side tighten them completely.
e. Slide the front seat to the most front position.
f. Tighten the bolts on the rear side temporarily, but from the bolts on the inner side tighten them completely.

Torque: 36.7 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

44. CHECK SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER LOCKS(MANUAL SEAT)
a. When sliding the seat, inspect that the outer and inner tracks are locked at the same time.

HINT: When the sliding lock position slips off, loosen the bolts to adjust the position.
