Body - Front/Rear Door Glass Wind Noise

Introduction

Some vehicles may exhibit wind noise coming from both the front and rear door window glass. The following repair has been developed to improve this condition.

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2001 - 2005 model year Highlander vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Countermeasure became effective from 4J08" for supply parts. Countermeasure parts can be identified by parts after the date code below.

Repair Procedure

Replace the affected outside belt molding assembly.

1. Replace Front Door Molding Assembly LH.

HINT:

^ The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order.

^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

NOTE:
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year Highlander Repair Manual: Engine/Hood: Front Door: Overhaul (Highlander).

A. Remove power window regulator switch assembly.

B. Remove front door lower frame bracket garnish LH.

C. Remove door pull handle.

D. Remove front door trim board sub-assembly.





E. Remove front door belt molding assembly LH.

a. Remove the screw.

b. Put protective tape under the molding (i.e., masking tape, body shop tape).

c. Using a molding remover or scraper, remove the molding.

2. Replace Rear Door Molding Assembly LH.

HINT:

^ The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order.

^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

A. Remove door pull handle.

B. Remove rear door trim board sub-assembly LH.





C. Remove rear door belt molding assembly LH.

a. Remove the screw.
