Throttle Body: Service and Repair
THROTTLE BODY ASSYRemoval & Installation and Disassembly & Reassembly
1. DRAIN COOLANT
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
a. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector and wire clamp.
b. Disconnect the VSV connector for canister closed valve (CCV) and the air hose.
c. Disconnect the 4 vacuum hoses and the ventilation hose No.2.
d. Loosen the 2 hose clamps, and disconnect the air cleaner hose from the throttle body.
e. Remove the air cleaner cap with the hose.
f. Remove the air filter.
g. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case.
3. SEPARATE THROTTLE BODY BRACKET
a. Remove the bolt and disconnect the throttle body bracket.
4. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSY
a. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle.
b. Remove the bolt and disconnect the speed control cable with the bracket.
c. Disconnect the vacuum hose for the brake booster.
d. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
e. Disconnect the intake air control valve connector.
f. Disconnect the 2 water bypass hoses and an air hose.
g. Disconnect the 4 vacuum hoses.
h. Remove the 3 nuts, throttle body and gasket.
5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY NO.2
a. Remove the 2 screws and cover.
b. Remove the 3 screws and the throttle body No.2.
c. Remove the vacuum hose.
NOTE: Do not disassemble or adjust the throttle opener.
6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
a. Remove the 3 screws and throttle body.
7. REMOVE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
a. Remove 2 screws and throttle position sensor.
8. REMOVE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY
a. Remove 4 screws and throttle body idle air control valve assy.
9. INSTALL IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY
a. Install a new gasket and throttle body idle air control valve assy.
Torque: 3.7 N.m (38 kgf.cm, 32 in.lbf)
10. INSTALL THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
a. Check that the throttle valve is fully close.
b. Insert the sensor to the throttle body with it turned counterclockwise by 30 to 60° against the fully-closed valve position.
c. By turning the sensor clockwise, install the sensor.
Torque: 2 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 17 in.lbf)
11. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY
a. Install a new gasket, a new O-ring and the throttle body.
Torque: 6.9 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 61 in.lbf)
12. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY NO.2
a. Install a new gasket,a new O-ring and the throttle body No.2.
Torque: 6.9 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 61 in.lbf)
13. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY
14. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSY
a. Install a new gasket and the throttle body assembly.
Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
15. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY BRACKET
Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
16. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
a. Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
17. ADD COOLANT
18. INSPECT CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
