DTC P0012 Camshaft Position "A" - Timing Over - Retarded (Bank 1)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

DTC Detecting Condition:




The VVT system controls the intake valve timing properly in response to the driving condition. The ECM controls the Oil Control Valve (OCV) to make the intake valve timing properly, and the oil pressure controlled with the OCV is supplied to the VVT controller, and then the VVT controller changes relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
- If DTC P011 or P0012 are displayed, check the left bank VVT system circuit.
- If DTC P0021 or P0022 are displayed, check the right bank WT system circuit.
- Read freeze frame data using hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
