Component Tightening Specifications and Sequences
Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly tighten the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 79 Nm (806 kgf-cm, 58 ft. lbs.)
INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD
Install a new gasket and the intake manifold with the 5 bolts and 2 nuts. Uniformly tighten the bolts in several passes.
Torque 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.)
INSTALL CAMSHAFT (INTAKE)
Examine the front marks and numbers of the 5 bearing caps and install them. Then install the 10 bearing cap bolts. Uniformly tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque:
30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.) for bearing cap No. 1
9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) for bearing cap No. 3
INSTALL NO.2 CAMSHAFT (EXHAUST)
Examine the front marks and numbers of the 5 bearing caps and install them. Then install the 10 bearing cap bolts. Uniformly tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque:
30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.) for bearing cap No. 2
9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) for bearing cap No. 3
Mark the front side of the bearing cap bolts with paint. Retighten the bearing cap bolts 90° in the sequence shown
INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
Install the pulley.
Using SST, tighten the bolt.
SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021
Torque 180 Nm (1,835 kgf-cm, 133 ft. lbs.)
INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSY
Install a new gasket and oil pump with the 3 bolts.
Torque 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
INSPECT EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSY
Using a precision straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the surface contacting the cylinder head for warpage.
Maximum warpage 0.70 mm (0.0276 inch)
Install a new gasket and the exhaust manifold converter. Uniformly tighten the 5 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.)
Install the No. 1 and No. 2 exhaust manifold stays with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)
Install the water pump with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.)
Install and uniformly tighten 10 main bearing cap bolts in several passes, in the sequence shown.
Torque 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.)
INSTALL BOLT, W/WASHER
Fix the crankshaft, and install the 6 setting bolts.
Torque 41 Nm (418 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.)
