Trunk / Liftgate: Service and Repair

OVERHAUL

HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.




1. REMOVE BACK WINDOW PANEL TRIM UPPER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips and remove the trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




2. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 clips and remove the trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the RH side.




4. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the assist strap cover.
b. Remove the bolt and assist strap.
c. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 16 clips and remove the back door trim panel.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

5. w/ Rear spoiler:
REMOVE REAR SPOILER

6. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the control cable from the outside handle.
b. Disconnect the back door cylinder to lock control link from the key cylinder.
c. Remove the 3 bolts and the lock control.

7. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and cylinder.

8. REMOVE BACK DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE
a. Remove the 2 nuts and outside handle.

9. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE

10. INSTALL BACK DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE
a. Install the outside handle with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) for B

11. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
a. Install the cylinder with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) for B

12. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY

Torque: 12.5 N.m (128 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
