TSB REVISION NOTICE:

Previous versions of this TSB should be discarded.


INTRODUCTION:
Some customers may complain of excessive sulphur dioxide odour on 2004 - 2006 model year Highlander vehicles equipped with 2AZ engines under the following conditions:
- Stop and go driving
- Heavy acceleration

In order to reduce the sulphur dioxide odour, a new catalytic converter has been developed.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 - 2006 model year Highlander vehicles with the 2AZ engines and produced with the following Vehicle Description Section (VDS) information shown below.

NOTE :
To locate the VDS, refer to the 4th through 8th digits of the VIN for model applicability i.e. JTEGD21A940074041.








PARTS INFORMATION:

*NOTE:
The original part number (17420--28460) is currently used in vehicle production and is still available as a service part. The repair part number (17420--28580) should only be used when the customer complains of sulphur odour.
