Transfer Oil Service

TRANSFER OIL

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3MZ-FE)
2. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE)





3. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSFER CASE PLUG
a. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT TRANSFER OIL
a. Remove the No. 1 plug and gasket.
b. Check that the oil level is 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.968 inch) below the lower side of the transfer case No. 1 plug hole.

NOTICE:
^ When changing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.
^ Excessively large or small amounts of oil may cause some trouble.

c. When the oil level is too low, check for oil leakage.
d. Tighten the No. 1 transfer case plug with a new No. 1 gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
2. ADD TRANSFER OIL
a. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and No. 1 gasket and add the oil.

NOTICE:
^ When supplying oil, pour it slowly.
^ Repeat supplying oil, several times at several minutes interval.

HINT: Within 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.1968 inch) below the lower side of the No. 1 transfer case plug hole.

b. After leaving it alone for 5 minutes, recheck the oil level.
c. Tighten the transfer case No. 1 plug with a new No. 1 gasket.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSFER CASE PLUG
a. Install the No. 1 transfer case plug with a new No. 1 gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
2. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3MZ-FE)
3. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE)
