Steering Control Module: Service and Repair

POWER STEERING ECU

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. SEPARATE CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SIDE COVER LH





3. REMOVE INVERTER BRACKET NO.5
(a) Remove the bolt and inverter bracket No.5.

4. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the bolt and ground cable terminal from the power steering ECU assembly.





(b) Release the locks of the 2 power steering ECU assembly connectors and disconnect the connectors.





(c) Separate the 2 wire harness clamps from the power steering ECU assembly.





(d) Remove the 2 bolts and the power steering ECU assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY





(a) Install the power steering ECU assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)





(b) Connect the 2 wire harness clamps to the power steering ECU assembly.





(c) Connect the 2 power steering ECU assembly connectors and securely lock the connectors.





(d) Install the ground cable terminal to the power steering ECU assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf)





2. INSTALL INVERTER BRACKET NO.5
(a) Install the inverter bracket No.5 to the power steering ECU assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

3. INSTALL ENGINE COMPARTMENT SIDE COVER LH
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

HINT: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

6. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
