ENGINE UNITREPLACEMENT
1. REPLACE CONNECTING ROD SMALL END BUSH
(a) Using SST and a press, press out the bushing.

(b) Align the oil holes of a new bushing and the connecting rod.
(c) Using SST and a press, press in the bushing.

(d) Using a pin hole grinder, hone the bush to obtain the standard clearance between the bush and piston pin.
(e) Check the piston pin fit at normal room temperature.
(1) Coat the piston pin with engine oil, and push it into the connecting rod with your thumb.
2. REPLACE OIL PUMP SEAL
3. REPLACE REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL
HINT: There are 2 ways to remove the oil seal: remove it with the rear oil seal retainer removed from the cylinder block, or remove it with the rear oil seal retainer installed to the cylinder block.
(a) If the rear oil seal retainer is removed from the cylinder block:
(1) Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
(2) Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

(3) Apply MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.
(b) If the rear oil seal retainer is installed to the cylinder block:
(1) Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.
(2) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the crankshaft. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(3) Apply MP grease to the lip of a new oil seal.
(4) Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

4. REPLACE SPARK PLUG TUBE GASKET
(a) Bend the 4 ventilation case claws installed on the cylinder head cover to an angle of 90° or more.
(b) Using a screwdriver, pry out the gasket.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the cylinder head cover.
(c) Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new gasket until its surface is flush with the upper edge of the cylinder head cover.

NOTICE: Be careful of the installation direction.
(d) Apply a light coat of MP grease to the lip of the gasket.
(e) Return the 4 ventilation case claws to the original positions.
