INTRODUCTION:
To improve serviceability of the Floor Carpet Grommet (Floor Clamp Retainer), a new service part has been developed which allows the Floor Carpet Grommet to be replaced separately from the carpet assembly.

NOTE:
If necessary, order additional floor/cargo mat floor clips to secure the floor mats.
REQUIRED TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
NOTE:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Slide seat to the most rearward position.
2. Remove driver side scuff plate.
NOTICE:
Be careful when removing clips. Apply tape to painted surfaces to prevent damage to paint.
3. Unclip any wire harnesses located under scuff plate.
NOTICE:
Do not damage wire harnesses.
4. Remove driver side cowl side trim subassy.
5. If equipped, remove luggage door lock open lever sub-assembly.
A. Remove the screw.
B. Disengage the claw and remove the luggage door open lever subassembly.
6. Remove damaged or loose floor retainer(s).
A. Raise the floor carpet.
B. Remove the retainer.
7. Install new the floor retainer.
NOTE:
Floor retainers are labeled as "UPR" for Upper and "LWR" for lower.
8. Carefully enlarge the carpet hole to allow the tip of the floor retainer to protrude through the carpet. Do not cut more than 2 mm of carpet as seen in figure 5.
NOTE:
Cut carpet towards the rear of the vehicle. Only cut 1.5 - 2.0 mm in length.
9. Insert the floor retainer lower piece under the original hole of the carpet.
NOTE:
Confirm that the floor retainer lower is facing the correct direction.
10. Attach the new floor retainer upper onto the floor retainer lower by pressing the 2 pieces together until a "click" is heard.
NOTE:
Confirm that the floor retainer upper is facing the correct direction.
11. Repeat steps for other damaged floor retainers, if necessary.
12. Lay carpet back down to its original location.
13. Reinstall cowl side trim, wire harnesses, trunk release lever and drivers side scuff plate.
