REMOVAL




1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT: All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabetic codes in the table.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Wait at least for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.

3. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR FOOTREST
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Regular Cab)
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Access Cab)
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Double Cab)
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for Regular Cab)
8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for Access Cab)
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for Double Cab)

a. Separate the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.

17. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
a. Separate the front door opening trim weatherstrip RH.

18. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Regular Cab)
19. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Access Cab)
20. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Double Cab)
21. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Regular Cab)
22. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Access Cab)

24. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY (for Pedal Type Parking Brake)
a. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws, and remove the instrument panel under tray.




25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL HOLE COVER (for Lever Type Parking Brake)
a. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument panel hole cover.




26. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Remove the shift knob.
b. Disengage the 6 clips and claw, and remove the console upper rear panel sub-assembly.




27. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Disengage the 4 clips and claw, and remove the console upper rear panel sub-assembly.

28. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Separate Seat Type)




a. Remove the console box carpet.




b. Remove the 2 screws and 2 bolts .
c. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear console box assembly.




29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER TRAY (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Disengage the 2 clips and 4 claws, and remove the instrument panel cup holder tray.




30. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Remove the 2 screws .
b. Disengage the 2 clips and claw, and remove the front console box.




31. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Manual Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Remove the shift knob.
b. Remove the 2 screws .
c. Disengage the 2 clips and claw, and remove the front console box.

32. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Automatic Transmission on Bench Seat Type)




a. Remove the shift knob.
b. Remove the box bottom mat.
c. Remove the instrument panel cup holder.
d. Remove the No. 2 box bottom mat.




e. Remove the clip and 2 bolts .
f. Disengage the 2 clips and claw, and remove the front
console box.

33. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Manual Transmission on Bench Seat Type)




a. Remove the shift knob.
b. Remove the box bottom mat.
c. Remove the instrument panel cup holder.
d. Remove the No. 2 box bottom mat.




e. Remove the clip and 2 bolts .
f. Disengage the 2 clips and claw, and remove the front
console box.




34. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips and remove the air conditioning control assembly.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

35. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
36. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY




37. REMOVE LOWER NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
a. Remove the 2 bolts .
b. Disengage the 3 clips and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.
c. Disconnect the connectors.




38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 clips.
b. Disengage the 6 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
c. Disconnect the connectors.




39. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 screws and the combination meter assembly.
b. Disconnect the 2 connectors.




40. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CENTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the 10 clips and remove the instrument cluster center finish panel sub-assembly.

41. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY




a. Disengage the claw and separate the glove compartment door stopper from the glove compartment door assembly.
b. Slightly deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the 2 stoppers and open the glove compartment door assembly until it becomes horizontal.




c. Pull the glove compartment door assembly toward the rear of the vehicle to release the 3 hinges and remove the glove compartment door assembly.




42. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the bolt .
b. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument panel lower finish panel sub-assembly RH.




43. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
a. Remove the 3 bolts and the lower instrument panel LH.




44. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the bolt .
b. Disengage the 5 clips and remove the instrument lower cover sub-assembly.
c. Disconnect the 2 connectors.




45. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the instrument side panel RH.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

46. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
47. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/ PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Tape up the steering column cover upper and steering wheel sub-assembly in protective tape.
b. Disengage the 4 clamps and disconnect the 4 connectors.




c. Remove the 8 bolts, nut and instrument panel subassembly w/ passenger air bag assembly.




48. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY W/ NO.2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
a. Remove the 5 screws and defroster nozzle assembly w/ No. 2 heater to register duct.




49. REMOVE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU
a. Remove the 2 screws and four wheel drive control ECU.




50. REMOVE DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER
a. Remove the 2 screws and door control receiver.

51. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




52. REMOVE NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 screws and No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.




53. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the screw and instrument panel center bracket sub-assembly center.

54. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY




55. REMOVE NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN
a. Remove the 4 screws and the 4 No.1 instrument panel pins.

56. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION
57. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION




2. INSTALL NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN
a. Install the 4 No.1 instrument panel pins with the 4 screws .

3. INSTALL ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY




4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel center bracket subassembly with the screw .




5. INSTALL NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel register with the 4 screws with the fins closed.

6. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




7. INSTALL DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER
a. Install the door control receiver with the 2 screws .




8. INSTALL FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU
a. Install the four wheel drive control ECU with the 2 screws .

Torque: 1.2 N.m (12 kgf. cm, 11 in.lbf)

9. INSTALL DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY W/ NO.2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT




a. Install the defroster nozzle w/ No. 2 heater to register duct with the 5 screws .




10. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY W/ PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Install the instrument panel sub-assembly w/ passenger air bag assembly with the 8 bolts and nut.

Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf. cm, 15 ft.lbf) for bolt

b. Engage the 5 clamps and connect the 4 connectors.
c. Remove the protective tape from the steering column cover upper and steering wheel subassembly.

11. CONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR




12. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH
a. Engage the 3 claws and install the instrument side RH.




13. INSTALL INSTRUMENT LOWER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the 2 connectors.
b. Engage the 5 clips and install the instrument lower cover.
c. Install the bolt .




14. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
a. Install the lower instrument panel LH with the 3 bolts .




15. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Engage the 2 clips and install the instrument panel lower finish panel sub-assembly RH.
b. Install the bolt .

16. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY




a. Install the glow compartment door assembly with 3 hinges, holding it horizontal.




b. Slightly deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly, and install the glove compartment door assembly.
c. Install the glove compartment door stopper onto the glove compartment door.




17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CENTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Engage the 10 clips and install the instrument cluster center finish panel sub-assembly.




18. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the 2 connectors.
b. Install the combination meter assembly with the 4 screws .

Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)




19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the connectors.
b. Engage the 6 clips and install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
c. Install the 2 clips.




20. INSTALL LOWER NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
a. Connect the connectors.
b. Engage the 3 clips and install the lower NO.1 instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.
c. Install the 2 bolts .

21. CONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
22. INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY




23. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the 2 connectors.
b. Engage the 4 clips and install the air conditioning control assembly.

24. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Manual Transmission on Bench Seat Type)




a. Engage the 2 clips and claw, and install the front console box.
b. Install the clip and 2 bolts .




c. Install the No. 2 box bottom mat.
d. Install the instrument panel cup holder.
e. Install the box bottom mat.
f. Install the shift knob.

25. INSTALL FRONT
CONSOLE BOX (for Automatic Transmission on Bench Seat Type)




a. Engage the 2 clips and claw, and install the front console box.
b. Install the clip and 2 bolts .




c. Install the No. 2 box bottom mat.
d. Install the instrument panel cup holder.
e. Install the box bottom mat.
f. Install the shift knob.




26. INSTALL FRONT
CONSOLE BOX (for Manual Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Engage the 2 clips and claw, and install the front console box.
b. Install the 2 screws .
c. Install the shift knob.




27. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Engage the 2 clips and claw, and install the front console box.
b. Install the 2 screws .




28. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER TRAY (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Engage the 2 clips and 4 claws, and install the instrument panel cup holder tray.

29. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Separate Seat Type)




a. Engage the 4 claws and install the console box rear.
b. Install the 2 screws and 2 bolts .




c. Install the console box carpet.




30. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Engage the 4 clips and claw, and remove the console upper panel sub-assembly.




31. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type)
a. Engage the 6 clips and claw, and remove the console upper rear panel.
b. Install the shift knob.




32. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL HOLE COVER (for Lever Type Parking Brake)
a. Engage the 4 clips and install the instrument panel hole cover.




33. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY (for Pedal Type Parking Brake)
a. Engage the 4 clips and 2 claws, and install the instrument panel under tray.

34. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Regular Cab)
35. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Access Cab)
36. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Double Cab)
37. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Regular Cab)
