^ YES - Go to step 3.

3. Was the temperature surrounding the vehicle below -4°F (-20°C) when the RES did not operate?

^ NO - Use the RES Troubleshooting Guide to investigate other causes.

^ NO - The RES may NOT operate in extreme cold temperatures at or below -22°F (-30°C). Explain to the customer that this is normal operation of the system and no repair is required.

^ YES - If the customer confirms that temperatures were between the range of -22°F and -4° F (-30°C and -20°C) when the RES did NOT operate, the Gateway ECU may be at fault.

If temperatures are between -22°F and -4°F (-30°C and -20°C) at the time of repair, test the system before replacing the unit.

If temperatures do NOT allow for confirmation, then the unit may be replaced if the other questions do not address the issue.

If the answers to all of the above are YES, proceed to "Replace the Accessory Gateway (BUS) ECU".
