REMOVAL
HINT: A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
1. REMOVE TAIL GATE PROTECTOR
2. REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER
a. Using a T30 "TORX" socket, remove the 8 screws and service hole cover.
3. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the tail gate lock links from the tail gate lock and tail gate handle assembly.
b. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate lock.
4. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the tail gate lock links from the tail gate lock and tail gate handle assembly.
b. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate lock.
5. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK CONTROL LINK LH
a. Remove the control rod.
6. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK CONTROL LINK RH
a. Remove the control rod.
7. REMOVE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear View Monitor System)
8. REMOVE TAIL GATE HANDLE
a. Remove the 2 bolts and tail gate handle.
9. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK KEY CYLINDER
a. Pull off the snap ring and remove the tail gate lock key cylinder.
10. REMOVE TAIL GATE LOCK STRIKER
a. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 4 screws and 2 tail gate lock strikers.
11. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH
12. REMOVE SIDE GATE SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the side gate support while releasing the 2 clips.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
13. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the deck side shaft and tail gate stay from the body.
b. Remove the gate side shaft and tail gate stay.
HINT: Use the same procedures described above for the other side.
14. REMOVE REAR BODY TAIL GATE ASSEMBLY
a. Pull up the tail gate in the direction of arrow 1 from the tail gate hinge assembly RH slot as shown in the illustration.
b. Move the tail gate rearwards and then pull in the direction of arrow 2 as shown in the illustration to remove the tail gate.
15. REMOVE TAIL GATE HINGE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the bolt.
NOTICE: Be careful not to drop the tail gate.
b. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate hinge from the tail gate.
16. REMOVE TAIL GATE HINGE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the bolt.
NOTICE: Be careful not to drop the tail gate.
b. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate hinge from the tail gate.
17. REMOVE TAIL GATE MALE HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate male hinge from the tail gate.
18. REMOVE TAIL GATE MALE HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate male hinge from the tail gate.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL TAIL GATE MALE HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate lock male hinge sub-assembly with the 2 screws.
Torque: 29 N.m (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf)
2. INSTALL TAIL GATE MALE HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate lock male hinge sub-assembly with the 2 screws.
Torque: 29 N.m (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf)
3. INSTALL TAIL GATE HINGE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate hinges to the tail gate with the 2 screws.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
b. Install the bolt to the tail gate.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
4. INSTALL TAIL GATE HINGE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate hinges to the tail gate with the 2 screws.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
b. Install the bolt to the tail gate.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
5. INSTALL REAR BODY TAIL GATE ASSEMBLY
a. Move the tail gate in the direction of arrow 1 in the illustration to connect the tail gate hinge LH.
b. Move the tail in the direction of arrow 2 in the illustration to connect the tail gate assembly hinge RH and install the tail gate.
6. INSTALL TAIL GATE STAY ASSEMBLY
a. Install the tail gate cable and gate side shaft to the tail gate.
Torque: 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
b. Install the tail gate cable and deck side shaft to the body.
Torque: 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
HINT: Use the same procedures described above to the other side.
7. INSTALL SIDE GATE SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the side gate support.
NOTICE:
- Install the side gate support while supporting the body by hand.
- Check that the side gate support is engaged in the ball joint and it cannot be pulled out.
8. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH
9. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK STRIKER
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the 2 tail gate lock strikers with the 4 screws.
Torque: 13 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
10. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK KEY CYLINDER
a. Install the tail gate lock cylinder with the snap ring.
11. INSTALL TAIL GATE HANDLE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the tail gate handle with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
12. INSTALL TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear View Monitor System)
13. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK CONTROL LINK LH
a. Install the control rod.
14. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK CONTROL LINK RH
a. Install the control rod.
15. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate lock with the 2 screws.
Torque: 13 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
b. Connect one end of the tail gate lock link to the tail gate lock and another end to the tail gate handle.
16. INSTALL TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY RH
a. Using a T40 "TORX" wrench, install the tail gate lock with the 2 screws.
Torque: 13 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
b. Connect one end of the tail gate lock link to the tail gate lock and another end to the tail gate handle.
17. INSTALL SERVICE HOLE COVER
a. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, install the service hole cover with the 8 screws.
18. INSTALL TAIL GATE PROTECTOR
19. CHECK CONNECTION OF TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear View Monitor System)
