Drive Belt: Service and Repair

DRIVE BELT

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
(a) Remove the 5 bolts, 3 screws and engine under cover.





3. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the fan and generator V belt from the belt tensioner.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align the holes, and then insert a bar of [diameter]6 mm (0.236 in.) into the holes to fix the belt tensioner.





(b) Install the fan and generator V belt.

HINT: If it is hard to install the fan and generator V belt, perform the following procedures.

1. Put the fan and generator V belt on all parts except the vane pump, as shown in the illustration.
2. While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, put the fan and generator V belt on the vane pump.
(c) While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the bar.
2. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
(a) Install the engine under cover with the 5 bolts and 3 screws.
Torque:
for bolt 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
for screw 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
