Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. CHECK FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) Visually check the fan and generator V belt for excessive wear, frayed cords, etc.
If any defect has been found, replace the fan and generator V belt.
HINT: Cracks on the rib side of a fan and generator V belt are considered acceptable. If the fan and generator V belt has chunks missing from the ribs, it should be replaced.
(b) Check by hand that the belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves and has not slipped out of the grooves on the bottom of the crank pulley.
