Component Tightening Specifications and Sequences

Cylinder Head
CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for Bank 1)





Step 1:
Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, install and uniformly tighten the 8 cylinder head bolts with the plate washers in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
If any one of the cylinder head bolts does not meet the torque specification, replace the cylinder head bolt.





Step 2:
Mark the cylinder head bolt heads with paint as shown in the illustration.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Step 3:
Tighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Check that the painted marks are now facing rearward.

CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for Bank 2)





Step 1:
Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, install and uniformly tighten the 8 cylinder head bolts with the plate washers in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
If any one of the cylinder head bolts does not meet the torque specification, replace the cylinder head bolt.





Step 2:
Mark the cylinder head bolt heads with paint as shown in the illustration.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Step 3:
Tighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Check that the painted marks are now facing rearward.





Install the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads of the cylinder head bolts.
Install the 2 cylinder head bolts. Using several steps, tighten the bolts uniformly in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)

Intake Manifold
Intake manifold x Cylinder head 26 N*m (265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)
Intake air surge tank x Intake manifold 28 N*m (286 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
Throttle body bracket x Intake air surge tank and Cylinder head 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

Camshaft Bearing Cap





Camshaft bearing cap x Cylinder head (cylinder head LH and RH)
For 10 mm head 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)
For 12 mm head 24 N*m (245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf)

Main Bearing Cap
Crankshaft bearing cap x Cylinder block






Quantity: 16
1st (in order shown) 61 N*m (622 kgf*cm, 45 ft.*lbf)
2nd (in order shown) Turn 90°

Rod Bearing Cap

Flywheel/Flex Plate





Tighten the 8 bolts uniformly in several steps in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 83 N*m (46 kgf*cm, 61 ft.*lbf)

Exhaust Manifold
LH and RH
Exhaust manifold LH and RH x Cylinder head 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator x Exhaust manifold LH 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)

Exhaust pipe (for Regular Cab Standard Deck)
Front exhaust pipe x Exhaust manifold RH 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)

Install the oil pump cover with the 7 bolts Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)
