Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE:
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)
a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.
5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)
a. Install a new O-ring to the camshaft timing oil control valve.
b. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring.
c. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
d. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)
a. Install a new O-ring to the camshaft timing oil control valve
b. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring.
c. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
d. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
