CYLINDER HEAD SET BOLT






Using a vernier caliper, measure the diameter of the elongated thread at the measuring point.
Measuring point:
Intake side bolt 94 mm (3.70 in.)
Exhaust side bolt 89 mm (3.50 in.)
Standard outside diameter 10.85 to 11.00 mm (0.427 to 0.433 in.)
Minimum outside diameter 10.6 mm (0.417 in.)
If the diameter is less than the minimum, replace the cylinder head bolt.

HINT: If a visual check reveals no excessively thin areas, check the center of the bolt (see illustration) and find the area that has the lowest diameter.

Camshaft Bearing Cap
CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP RH





Temporarily install the 10 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

CAMSHAFT HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY RH





Install the camshaft housing, and install the 18 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque:
for bolt A 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
for except bolt A 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)





Tighten the 10 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)





CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP LH





Temporarily install the 10 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

CAMSHAFT HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





Install the camshaft housing, and install the 18 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque:
for bolt A 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
for except bolt A 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)





Tighten the 10 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)

Main Bearing Cap
Crankshaft bearing cap x Cylinder block






Step 1: Uniformly tighten the 20 main bearing cap bolts
for Inside position (in sequence shown) 61 N*m (622 kgf*cm, 45 ft.*lbf)
for Outside position (in sequence shown) 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)
Step 2: Tighten the bearing cap bolts
(in sequence shown) Turn 90°

Step 3: Uniformly tighten the 10 main bearing cap bolts






(in sequence shown) 45 N*m (459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf)

Rod Bearing Cap
Connecting rod x Connecting rod cap
1st 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf)
2nd Turn 90°

Crankshaft Pulley

Flywheel/Flex Plate





Install and uniformly tighten 10 new bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 30 N*m (301 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)





Mark the upside of each flywheel installation bolt with paint.
Tighten the flywheel installation bolts another 90° as shown.
Check that the painted marks are now at a 90° angle to the upside.

Exhaust Manifold

Torque:
for nut A 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
except nut A 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

Water Pump

Install a new gasket and the water pump with the 8 bolts shown in the illustration.
Torque:
for bolt A 47 N*m (479 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)
for bolt B 23 N*m (235 kgf*cm, 17 ft.*lbf)
for bolt C 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

Water inlet housing x Timing chain cover 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

Oil Pump
Install the oil pump cover with the 13 bolts Torque: 10.0 N*m 105 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
