Engine Controls - MIL ON/DTC P032D Set

Introduction
Some 2007 model year Tundra vehicles with a 3UR-FE engine may exhibit a M.I.L. "ON" condition with DTC P032D (Knock Sensor Circuit High) present. The condition may be caused by bent pins in the knock sensor sub-harness connector Da 1. Use the following repair procedure to address customer concerns.

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2007 model year Tundra vehicles equipped with a 3UR-FE engine and produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Verify that DTC P032D is present.

2. Remove the intake manifold assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2007 model year Tundra Repair Manual, Engine/Hybrid System - Intake/Exhaust - "3UR-FE Intake: Intake Manifold: Removal".





3. Remove the No. 2 engine cover.





4. Remove the No. 1 engine cover.





5. Remove the separator case by removing the 4 bolts.

6. Remove the knock sensor sub-harness.

A. Disconnect the 4 knock sensor connectors.





B. Remove the 3 sub-harness retaining clamps and then remove the knock sensor wiring sub-harness.





7. Install the NEW knock sensor sub-harness.

A. Install the 3 sub-harness retaining clamps.

B. Connect the 4 knock sensor connectors.





8. Install the separator case with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)





9. Install the No. 1 engine cover.

NOTE:
Make sure that the No. 1 engine cover is level with the top surface of the intake port of the cylinder head for 1 and 2.

HINT:

^ Align the No. 1 engine cover cutouts with the air tube.

^ Align the No. 1 engine cover with the air switching valve surface and cylinder head wall.

10. Install the No. 2 engine cover.

Make sure that the No. 2 engine cover is level with the top surface of the intake port of the cylinder head.

^ Align the No. 2 engine cover cutout with the air tube.

^ Align the No. 2 engine cover with the front water by-pass joint and cylinder head wall.

11. Install the intake manifold assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2007 model year Tundra Repair Manual, Engine/Hybrid System - Intake/Exhaust - "3UR-FE Intake: Intake Manifold: Installation".

12. Clear all stored DTCs.

13. Test drive the vehicle to confirm normal operation and that DTC P032D is NOT present.
