Applicability
Introduction
Some 2008 - 2011 model year Highlander / Hybrids built in Japan (WMI = JTE) may exhibit a condition where the front and/or rear door armrest cracks or separates. Improved door panel trim assemblies are available to address this condition.

Repair Procedure
1. Replace the door trim panel.
A. Proceed to step 1 for Front Door Repair only.
B. Proceed to step 1 for Rear Door Repair only.
Refer to Technical Instruction System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
Front Door Repair
1. Disengage the claw and clip and remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.
2. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 3 claws and remove the front door inside handle bezel plug.
3. Remove the front armrest upper base panel.
A. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 7 claws and clip and remove the front armrest upper base panel.
B. Disconnect the connector.
4. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 4 claws and remove the assist grip cover.
5. Remove the courtesy light assembly.
A. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the claw and remove the courtesy light assembly.
B. Disconnect the connector.
6. Remove the front door trim board sub-assembly.
A. Remove the 3 screws.
B. Using a clip remover disengage the 9 clips.
C. Disengage the 5 claws and separate the front door trim board sub-assembly from the front door inner glass weatherstrip.
D. Disengage the 2 clamps.
E. Disconnect the front door lock remote control cable and front door inside locking cable.
F. Disconnect the connector.
7. Disengage the 3 clamps and remove the front door wire (for Driver Side).
8. Proceed to installation.
Rear Door Repair
1. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 3 claws and remove the rear door inside handle bezel plug.
2. Remove the rear door armrest upper base panel.
A. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 6 claws and 2 clips and remove the rear door armrest upper base panel.
B. Disconnect the connector.
3. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly.
4. Using a plastic pry tool disengage the 4 claws and remove the door assist grip cover.
5. Remove the rear door trim board sub-assembly.
A. Remove the 3 screws.
B. Using a clip remover disengage the 9 clips.
C. Disengage the 5 claws and separate the rear door trim board sub-assembly from the rear door inner glass weatherstrip.
D. Disengage the 2 clamps.
E. Disconnect the front door lock remote control cable and rear door inside locking cable.
Installation
1. Install the NEW Door Trim Assembly in the reverse order.
