Introduction

Some customers may experience false triggering of the security horn on vehicles equipped with factory theft deterrent system when the vehicle is undisturbed. An updated hood latch assembly with switch is now available to address this condition.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Production Change Information





This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

Tsutsumi Production

XLE grade has factory theft deterrent system standard. Factory theft deterrent system not available on other grades produced at this plant.

TMMK Production

XLE grade has standard theft deterrent system. SE grade has optional factory theft deterrent system. LE grade is not available with factory theft deterrent system.

NOTE

^ For Camry vehicles built at TMMK, the underlined number in the VIN (12th digit) represents plant assembly line code and is necessary to properly identify Production Change Effective VIN (0 - 4 = Line 1, 5 - 9 = Line 2).

Repair Procedure

Removal

Follow the procedure in the repair manual for hood lock control cable assembly removal.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), for the applicable model Repair Manual:

For all vehicles, follow the procedure for removal of the hood lock assembly "with Engine Hood Courtesy Switch".

NOTE
Disconnect the control cable from the latch assembly but do NOT remove the control cable from the vehicle.

Installation

To reinstall follow the procedure in the repair manual for hood lock control cable assembly installation.
