3MZ-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: KNOCK SENSOR: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
HINT:
Technician Safety Information.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
5. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL
6. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
10. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
11. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine)
12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY
14. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY
15. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET
16. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD
17. REMOVE EMISSION CONTROL VALVE SET
18. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
19. DISCONNECT FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the No. 1 EFI fuel pipe clamp.
(b) Pinch the quick connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel pipe.
NOTICE:
- Remove dirt or foreign objects on the quick connector before disconnecting the connector.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign objects on the connecting surfaces when disconnecting as the fuel hose connector has the O-ring that seals the pipe.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the connecting surfaces by covering them with a vinyl bag after disconnecting the pipe.
- If the quick connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.
20. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE
(a) Disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
21. DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the inlet radiator hose.
22. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
(a) Remove the nut and disconnect the ground cable.
(b) Disconnect the 6 fuel injector connectors.
(c) In order to remove the intake manifold, using several steps, remove the 9 bolts, 2 washers and 2 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
23. REMOVE OUTLET WATER
24. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts, and then remove the 2 knock sensors.
